Seven years to the day since John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison first performed together at Liverpool’s Casbah Coffee Club, The Beatles play their last paid, public concert in front of 25,000 fans at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. John and Paul, knowing what the fans do not (that this will be the last concert ever) bring cameras on stage and take pictures between songs. The band did 11 songs in just over a half an hour, opening with “Rock & Roll Music” and closing with “Long Tall Sally”.  Despite that “Revolver” had released weeks earlier, the band did not play even a single cut from it.  The last song played by the Fab Four?  Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally”.

August 29, 1974 DS. Las Vegas, NV. – Elvis Presley In Concert

Elvis Presley, in the 50s was The pelvis, but in the 1970s, he was a meta artist, who used his limbs, shaking what moved from the hips, and on this night, he proselytized karate instead of the bible.

Already karate had been taking more and more time during Elvis’ performance, but this night Elvis put on his Karate
outfit (over his stage suit!) and discussed (atgreat leangth) his Karate skills –
putting on a full-scale demonstration with Red West.

The Clash Buzzcocks and the Sex Pistols all appeared at a showcase event at The Screen On The Green, Islington, London. Organised by Malcolm Maclaren, this was notable for many reasons including, it was only The Clash’s third gig and the first ever to be recorded, and is the earliest known (after the Manchester Free Trade Hall concert from April 1976) recorded performance and a rare recording of The Sex Pistols with Glen Matlock. The cinema is referenced throughout Adam and the Ants’ song ‘Fall in’ – released as the b side to “Ant Music” in 1980
