Mary Tyler Moore has died, aged 80 – she had been Type 1 – Juvenile onset diabetic.
Known for the 60s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show, Dick’s Wife, then her own in the 1970s – Mary Tyler Moore, single newswoman.
The Character was originally going to be divorced, but that was too something and single it was – virginal it was not.
A Change of Habit was her star movie playing a Nun torn between her vows and a Man – the movie was part of the NBC package for the 1968 Comeback Special and the movie became Elvis’.
Later, Tyler would break type by playing the cold mother in the 1980 Film Ordinary People – Tim Hutton won an Oscar for his first movie role.
