Ed Sullivan vowed to not have Elvis on his show, until Steve Allen crushed him in the ratings.

Elvis was shown in full for the first 2 performances and from the waist up on the third.

Elvis never appeared on Dick Clarke’s Bandstand, but he did phone in from Germany

then, Elvis was back and being welcomed by rock hater Frank Sinatra.
