Elvis Presley was not the first to sell a million copies of a record.

He was the first to sell a million of each side of a record.

And, and Elvis Presley number 1 record ran the chart at that position for weeks until the next Elvis release in 1956, 1957 and into 1958.

The current billboard charts are based in 1958 and exclude Elvis’ best years.

I also think that if an artist get “a #1 hit” and it last a week, it’s not the same as a number 1 hit that lasted weeks and into months on the chart, holding that position.

Most countries had no recording industries and only began charts years after.

And, in the digital era, the idea of charts based on national geography has changed.

radio and even music videos are no longer and the market of genres is so fragmented

that Elvis Presley was the first and last everyone could agree upon
